We continue to make progress on our demo, but took a break this last week to create a short for our social channels using our new characters, the Directors, who look a bit like Jose and Laurel. That was so much fun, we’ll probably start posting those on a regular basis.

For this video, we used Noitom Perception Neuron 3 for motion capture, Reallusion iClone 8 to put the animation together and Final Cut Pro to piece the live action and animation into one video. We laughed so much making this! We really hope you enjoy it, too.

You can check it out on our spinner at the top of this page or on our channels:

Ooooh, it’s been a fun couple of weeks! We added 2 more layers of animation to our story, fixed the audio so that characters get louder or quieter as you move closer to or farther from them, dropped Zoe’s house onto the set and added intro logos to the movie. We even had our team meeting on set via our Meta Quest 2 headsets.

It’s so much fun meeting online in the world we’ve created. We can explore and find things that need tweaking, talk with and even “see” each other. Too many meetings might be a bane to productivity, but it’s definitely good to celebrate our progress together and plan next steps.

Getting closer every day to having a shareable demo!

There has been a lot of two steps forward, one step back in Flopsville!

However, after building a computer that can handle almost 30 USB inputs, moving the receivers for our trackers closer to the ceiling, moving our sound to its own computer and buying a few more pieces for the audio rack… and then rearranging some furniture, we’re now getting MUCH better data from our mocap trackers. There’s a new Flippity Flop where we talk about that below.

While we’ve been doing all of that, Meescha has made great progress on the 3D house and Giovanni has been busy working on the interface.

It’s great attacking this from three sides, but I can’t wait until there’s something new to show you. Of course, if you missed our holiday greeting, you can find that in our shorts reel at the top of the page and that would be new (albeit slightly out-of-date if you’re just seeing it now).

    Til next time!
